Community Organizations

UNO Writer’s Workshop

Fall and spring reading series with local, national, and international writers. Past events have included writers like Ross Gay, Ilya Kaminsky, Charles Bukowski, and John Cheever.

Nebraska Writers Collective

The NWC cultivates an inclusive environment where stories have value and voices are amplified. They support writers of all backgrounds and offer programming across the state that encourages young people to tell their stories, speak louder, and strive for greatness.

Nebraska Poetry Society

The Nebraska Poetry Society is a diverse group dedicated to the art of poetry.  Our goal is to provide opportunities for people of all ages and from all backgrounds to explore poetry.  We host virtual events for beginners and professionals and provide opportunities to explore, learn and gain feedback on your writing. 

Larksong Writers Place

The Naturalist School

From their website: “The Naturalist School teaches people to become better naturalists, nature writers, feral poets, wild philosophers, ecological activists, and enlightened planters through consilience of ecology and creativity.” Winter and spring ecology and creativity workshop opportunities.

Variety of programming options, virtual and in-person. Weekly and monthly writing workshop opportunities. Quarterly readings.

Nebraska Writers Guild

Promotes fellowship among Nebraska writers. Publishing, networking, and conference opportunities.

Humanities Nebraska
